FEBRUARY 2012

WE ARE MOVING!

The house we live in is being fixed from all the earthquake damage. It all began about 2 weeks ago.
Here is the story:

In a nutshell....what happened was, our Landlord told us we could live camping on the property for the 6weeks to 3 mths while the house was being fixed, and for no rent.
So we did this, massive move and set up, but finally at peace until... Monday afternoon... when....
the landlord and landlady called in... and to cut a LONG story short, her hubby had not told her we were staying on the property and she got a shock. Her way of dealing with it was to go stark crazy, spitting tacks at her poor husband, and wrote us a terrible letter ordering us off the property!
So, we went to the tenancy tribunal folks and were told we are completely within our rights and have done nothing wrong.
Mike wrote a really fantastic email back to her, and she wouldn't budge. Hubby came round, with suspiciously damp eyes ~ shame and embarrassment about his wife, and said he had never told her as he knew she would be like this. So, we patted him and got him a seat and gave him a drink  and told him it is ok!
After a couple of days of emails flying back and forth, we have now given them a months notice. Wifey has back pedaled and wants us to stay as they will lose lots of money from eqc and rent over us leaving.
Legally we can  stay here camping for a month and landlady has agreed and continues to agree to anything we now want!
So its ok. And the neighbour next door has an empty section and offered it to us free (but we will pay a bit if we go there) and so we will camp here, and maybe there, till we find somewhere to go. We are happy about this and camping is so much fun!
For a few days it was quite devastating.
All we feel sorry for is the husband with such a terrible wife.
We cannot stay here knowing that at anytime she could 'turn' like that again. "Nothing" can set her off! She is a ticking time bomb!
We are best gone from her 'power' over us.
All is good!
Better is yet to come:)

I'll put the pictures now, of our back lawn present camping...

a warm Saturday afternoon...

bit of business....

the kitchen storage  and walk-in wardrobe tent...

Guy and Heath's rooms.....

Kitchen tent all set up...Ivy brought me some celebratory flowers!

Breakfast bar for the boys.... (saves them coming to the caravan in the mornings)

You can see through to the back room which is our walk-in wardrobe!

Meanwhile, Mike found a new way to make his side of our bed in the caravan ~ through the rear windows!  Works a treat!

Sherri had her final day  and is off to London to live for two years!   Church potluck ~ with a few extra guests!

WHERE ARE WE MOVING TO??

Ok, so now we have to begin to prepare 'next door' to go and live!  (By March 23rd!)   Be warned, that these are 'before' photos and hopefully in a couple of weeks or so we can show you the 'after' photos!

"Next door" consists of two sections, possibly around 1/2 acre all up.   One section has a 90-100 yr old house, very small, 2 bedrooms. Structurally very sound, but 'let go'.The place has been abandoned since the last huge quake. The grass and gardens are unkempt and forgotten. The land owner bought it to demolish and build apartments but this is all delayed due to the quakes etc. There have been a few squatters over the time.

Mike and I need a change of scenery after a stressful couple of years, and are not in the mood to get back into a house for a while. So we have decided to continue living in our caravan on this section(s) and flick a coat of paint over the house and the boys can sleep inside, or the tent ~ whatever they want!    There is room to make a spare bedroom, and as always, anyone feeling like coming to stay, please come! We love visitors and will b thrilled to have you to stay!

The landlord wants no rent or money whatsoever (quite attractive!) but Mike is choosing to pay him a small amount for good 'neighbourly relations'!

"Before" photos

Going to pull this shed down (it is almost down anyway!)

The boys got weed-eating the long grass..

From the other end looking back at the wee house...

Road view(don't be frightened!)

Our current house on the left and 'Next door' on the right!

Now wait for the 'after' photos which I hope will come soon!
